American University launches pizza vending machine

Recently, a pizza vending machine appeared at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Port City, northeastern Florida, USA. The cost of this machine is about $60,000. Because pizza is the staple food of most college students' daily diet, officials at the University of North Florida hope to provide students with the pleasure of eating after school through this pizza vending machine. Brook Adams, senior executive chef of the Food Service Department, said that they make pizza dough in the campus kitchen every day, shred the cheese from scratch, assemble the uncooked pizza, and put them into barcodes with identifying ingredients. And then put it into the refrigerated storage rack behind the vending machine. Students use the touch screen to select the desired pizza. After payment, the machine grabs the pizza from the refrigerated storage area and puts it in one of the two infrared ovens in the vending machine. Adams said: 'Pizza is cooked in about 3 minutes and 45 seconds, and then automatically packed into the box, students can start to enjoy freshly baked pizza in just a few minutes.' It is reported that the price of pizza in this vending machine ranges from US$8.5 to US$9. After baking, the boxed pizza will come out of the receiving port.
