One of the biggest surprises during my food robot tour in San Francisco last year was the delicious bread in the Le Bread Xpress vending machine of the same name. After spending $4 and a waiting time of 90 seconds, I got a buttery French baguette that was heated to perfection. Therefore, I am very happy to be able to return to the Bay Area and try the company's brand new Bake Xpress vending machine, which can distribute 15 to 18 different foods, including croissants, turkey and savoury sandwiches and pizzas. The original Le Bread Xpress vending machine was launched about three years ago, while there are only three locations in the United States and more than 120 in Europe. Understandably, baguettes are more popular in France than here. Benoit Herve, CEO and founder of Le Bread Xpress, said over the phone this week that the Bake Xpress vending machine aims to provide a more complete meal solution. He said: 'We have the ability to provide a food menu from breakfast to dinner.' There are croissants in the morning, turkey sandwiches for lunch, and pizza for dinner. The Bake Xpress vending machine can hold and refrigerate up to 80 items. Each item is placed in a box with a special barcode, and the machine scans it to accurately know the location of each croissant, sandwich, and pizza. The food is pre-baked, so when a customer orders hot goods, the machine will grab the box and use a combination of microwave, infrared and convection heating to heat the food, depending on the food. Food heating takes 60 seconds to 3 minutes. There are now eight Bake Xpresses vending machines in operation. However, only one from the University of California at Berkeley is open to the public. According to Herve, the second one will be put into use next month, either to replace the old machine in Stonestown or enter an unnamed hospital. Bake Xpress has partnered with an undisclosed food service provider to help with the placement and operation of its machines. Le Bread Xpress generates revenue by renting out vending machines and cutting sales. Bake Xpress symbolizes the golden age of vending machines that we are entering. Companies such as Le Bread Xpress, Chowbotics, and Yo-Kai Express all hope to increase the level of automated food service by providing high-quality fares at reasonable prices that are available 24 hours a day. All these companies are targeting college campuses, hospitals, airports, and other high-traffic areas. People want more than potato chips and soda during a few hours at night. And, because these unmanned vending machines have a small footprint, if you want sandwiches and salads, there is no reason not to patronize them. In fact, I would not be surprised to see colocation and marketing between complementary vending machines spring up like mushrooms, because they have gained greater appeal. Looking forward to the next San Francisco food robot tour. The above information is shared by unmanned vending machines. Please mark the reprint.
